Polustrovo.net is the first and currently the largest home network in the Polustrovo neighborhood!
Polustrovo.net network was created in May 2004 of several people for general access to the Internet through a dedicated communication channel.
The network was not a commercial organization and did not pursue the goal of making money by providing public access to the Internet. Internet access was paid by the users at its cost by dividing the amount equally for each. Thus, the network existed for 1.5 years, connecting those who wished.
During this time, without any investment, the network grew to 170 subscribers in 15 houses in the Polustrovo neighborhood.
In January 2006, the network was invested in by the company Aiconet. After that, the network became an official organization with a license to provide these types of services. After the investment, the network growth has increased significantly both in terms of connections of subscribers and additional houses. The conditions of connecting homes have also changed significantly for the better for the end subscribers, homes began to be connected by high-tech material and equipment. The company connects houses exclusively with fiber-optic cable, which ensures the reliability of the network! End users are connected by copper cable from the active equipment installed in the entrance hall on the extreme floor (attic or basement) through the shared cable channels. Configuration of computers and other equipment for Internet access is made by employees of the company and is included in the cost of connection. We use active equipment from manufacturers such as: "Planet" "D-Link" "3-Com" "Level-one".
Aiconet offers several tariff plans to choose from. Every reconnected subscriber can choose an interesting tariff plan. Both traffic-based and unlimited Internet access plans are available. Minimum cost tariff of 300 rubles and maximum 1000 rubles for individuals and for businesses - from 500 rubles to the wishes of the client. It is also possible to buy an external (real) IP-address for extra 150 rubles.
To improve the quality of services, in the summer our company bought certified servers and a management system to control users on access to the Internet and track payments.
Subscriber service system is being improved: the company switched to a 7-day work week. Every day from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. our clients can call our support service and find out any question. The channel with the guaranteed bandwidth of 4 Mbit/sec was used to provide the Internet access. Then the channel to the Internet was increased to 10 Mbit / s, as in the summer the company changed its provider (it was the "Peterstar") and bought a channel to the Internet with a bandwidth of 100 Mbit / s! This allowed us to easily provide each customer with the speed of access that he wants to get on any tariff plan. We use a certified billing system, which is responsible for settlements with subscribers. The system allows subscribers to make payments at a convenient time for them. The billing system calculates days and hours by itself and automatically switches subscribers off and on depending on the state of their personal account. At the same time, we try to make our services as cheap and accessible to a wide range of consumers as possible.
Also, work is currently being done to improve the reliability of the network backbone both externally, from house to house, and within houses. The main reasons that still interfere with the network: vandalism, power outages, imperfections of the electrical network in the area, the latter is considered the most unpleasant obstacle to normal operation. The neighborhood is old and all the wiring both inside the houses and the main power mains have long been inadequate.
